Welcome! I’m Keenan Crowley, a dedicated mental health student with a strong foundation in Christian counseling and psychology. I am working on my master's degree in counseling and will be done in December of 2024, and I have a Bachelor's in Psychology and Counseling from Liberty University. My journey in mental health has been enriched by my experiences in diverse environments, from para-church ministries to educational settings.
I specialize in supporting families, teens, children, and individuals through play therapy, as well as advocating for men's mental health. My approach is client-centered, blending evidence-based techniques like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy , Motivational Interviewing, ACT, CBT, and Choice Theory with theological principles of compassion, grace, and change.
My integrative counseling model synthesizes cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and humanistic-existential theories, providing a robust and multifaceted approach to mental health. This model recognizes the complex interplay between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, advocating for interventions that are tailored to the unique needs of each client. By incorporating cognitive-behavioral techniques, the model addresses current issues and unhelpful thinking patterns. Psychodynamic exploration delves into unconscious conflicts and early experiences, facilitating deeper emotional healing and self-understanding. The humanistic-existential perspective emphasizes personal growth, self-awareness, and the exploration of values and purpose.
Furthermore, this model prioritizes cultural competence, acknowledging and respecting the diverse cultural backgrounds, beliefs, and values of clients. It integrates systemic awareness by considering family dynamics, societal structures, and environmental factors such as socioeconomic status and community resources. This comprehensive approach ensures that interventions are not only individualized but also contextually relevant.
The integrative counseling model is designed to be adaptable, evolving with new research, clinical findings, and the changing needs of clients. It fosters holistic healing, personal growth, and resilience, empowering clients to overcome challenges and achieve a sense of well-being. By blending these diverse theoretical perspectives, the model offers a nuanced and effective framework for addressing the multifaceted nature of human experiences and promoting lasting positive change.
